給美國參議員支持《香港人權與民主法》法案請願信（英文版）

美國眾議院通過了《香港人權與民主法》法案，按慣例參議院通過後送白宮，由總統簽署才能生效。
在此呼籲全球支持香港的朋友們給美國參議員寫信，盡快在參議院通過支持香港的法案。

Dear Senator,

The bipartisan Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act reaffirms US commitment to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law at a time when these freedoms and Hong Kong’s autonomy are being eroded by the Beijing government. It also safeguards US security and interests in Hong Kong. I am pleased that the bill has been passed in the House of Representatives. Still, swift action is needed to ensure its timely passage in the Senate. We need to act decisively and immediately to curb the hegemonic aspirations of China, in order that they do not further challenge internationally established rules and norms amidst a perception that the US may be weak or acquiescent. The withdrawal of the Extradition Law amendment is by no means a reason for us to sit back.

I ask that you support the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, and implore your colleagues in the Senate to support the bill and bring it to a vote. I sincerely call on Congress to promptly pass the legislation. This is the critical moment to act.
